Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Textile Design

  • A textile designer creates sample ideas, fresh design concepts, and pitches them to the client/manufacturer.
  • Makes sure projects are finished on schedule, evaluates and approves finished textiles, and sets production requirements
  • Researching and observing environment for design inspiration and to try out different colour, fabric, and texture combinations
  • Sources fabrics and other supplies from marketplaces, trade shows, and antique stores.
  • Attending trade exhibitions as a representative or exhibitor may involve evaluating the work of other worthy opponents or representing the company with a display or stand.
